Ferrari or Lamborghini? Choosing Your Supercar Rental in DC

Ferrari or Lamborghini? Choosing Your Supercar Rental in DC

Ferrari or Lamborghini? It's one of the oldest debates in car culture, and when you're choosing a supercar for a birthday, a weekend, or a once-in-a-lifetime drive, it stops being a debate and becomes a real decision.

At Supercars By The Day, we have both in our fleet in Rockville, Maryland, so we can help you choose honestly. Here's how they compare, from the way they feel to what they cost, so you can pick the one that suits your day. Still torn? Call us and we'll talk it through.

Ferrari vs. Lamborghini: how they compare

The short answer

Choose a Ferrari if you want elegance, a sense of occasion, and the option of driving with the roof down. Three of our four Ferraris are convertibles.

Choose a Lamborghini if you want drama, the howl of a Huracán's V10, and a car that turns every head on the street. Two of our Huracáns have all-wheel drive, which adds confidence on the road.

Both make an unforgettable day. The rest comes down to personality, the occasion, and your budget.

How they feel behind the wheel

Ferrari cars feel polished and refined. Our range runs from the Portofino, a grand tourer that's relaxed in traffic and made for long drives, to the SF90 Stradale, a plug-in hybrid that pulls away silently on electric power before its V8 takes over.

Lamborghini cars are louder, sharper, and more theatrical. The Huracán EVO has a naturally aspirated V10 that revs to 8,000 rpm, and its wedge shape looks fast even when it's parked. The Huracán STO goes further, with aerodynamics taken from Lamborghini's one-make racing series, including a shark fin and a huge rear wing.

Our Ferraris

  • Ferrari 458 Spider, in white: a naturally aspirated V8 with 562 horsepower and a folding hardtop. From $1,299 per day.
  • Ferrari 488 Spider, in Rosso Corsa red: a twin-turbo V8 with 661 horsepower and a retractable hardtop. From $1,660 per day.
  • Ferrari Portofino, in white: our most comfortable Ferrari for longer drives, with 591 horsepower and a retractable hardtop. From $1,799 per day.
  • Ferrari SF90 Stradale: Ferrari's first plug-in hybrid supercar, with 986 horsepower and all-wheel drive. The halo car of our fleet, available to drive yourself by arrangement. From $2,999 per day.

Our Lamborghinis

  • Lamborghini Huracán EVO, in Giallo Orion yellow or Rosso Mars red: a 631-horsepower V10 and all-wheel drive. From $1,499 per day.
  • Lamborghini Huracán STO: a road-legal race car with rear-wheel drive and 631 horsepower. A bucket-list drive for serious enthusiasts, available to drive yourself by arrangement. From $1,999 per day.
  • Lamborghini Urus: if you need more than two seats, the Urus gives you a Lamborghini that seats five, with room for three suitcases, in four colors plus the sportier Performante. From $1,199 per day. Our Urus guide has the details.

Which suits your occasion?

A proposal or an anniversary: a Ferrari Spider with the roof down, or the red Huracán EVO, which we often suggest for proposals.

A milestone birthday: either brand works. The yellow Huracán EVO is made for photos, and the 488 Spider is a classic birthday choice.

A long scenic drive: the Portofino, for comfort over the miles.

A photo shoot or music video: the Huracán STO or the yellow EVO, for pure visual impact.

A taste of the racetrack: the STO comes closest. Public roads aren't the place for racing, though, so enjoy it at legal speeds.

Practical differences

Luggage: the 458, 488, Portofino, and Huracán EVOs take one suitcase; the SF90 and the STO have no room for luggage. Traveling with bags? Choose the Urus, or ask us to deliver your car to your hotel.

Weather: the Huracán EVO and SF90 have all-wheel drive, which gives them more grip in the rain. Our other Ferraris and the STO are rear-wheel drive. All of these cars are best enjoyed on a dry day, and none of them are made for snow.

Miles: you get 100 miles a day with every rental, and each car's listing shows the rate for extra miles. Going farther? Share your route at booking and we'll build the extra miles into your quote.

Passengers: with one of our chauffeurs at the wheel, a two-seat supercar has room for one passenger.

Can't choose? Drive both

There's no rule that says you have to pick one. Book a Ferrari for Saturday and a Lamborghini for Sunday, or bring a friend and take one of each on the same day. Each driver needs our approval, and each car has its own deposit. We'll quote both cars together.

Good to know before you book

  • Drivers: each driver must be at least 18, hold a valid driver's license, and have insurance approved for the car. Everyone who drives must be named on the rental agreement and approved by our team before pickup.
  • Deposit: each car's deposit is shown on its listing. It's separate from the rental price, and we return it after we get the car back and inspect it.
  • Cancellation: if your plans change, let us know as early as you can. Our cancellation policy explains refunds and credit.
